In 2007, Yves decided to look into building a portfolio of EV domains, anticipating a revolution spearheaded by strong revolt globally against Big Oil, air pollution and global warming. Eco-conscious treehuggers, EV enthusiasts and green living afficionados helped by a burgeoning social media put the spotlight on the rapidly spreading EV Revolution brought about by EVpal in chief Elon Musk at Tesla. A renewed interest in resurrecting EV1 from “Who killed the electric car?”(GM) gave life to the Chevy volt and Nissan Leaf, consolidating the paradigm shift in transportation beyond any further doubt.
Along the way 3 books about EV, EV Conversion and Alternative Energy came about while a solid targeted list of acquired EV Domains was being compiled by Yves at EVdomains.com. After two Nissan Leaf purchases over the last 5 years it became obvious to him by experience that “range anxiety” was a real thing. Searching for locations where to chargeEV while away from home became a necessity, but he was unable to find anything suitable or in short distance from work.
This is what inspired him to come up with the idea for ChargeEV; a website that would bring together EV drivers to share logistics on charging locations and allow them to charge EV anywhere, anytime for free or a minor charge. Yves plans to continue attract fellow EV enthusiasts, encourage them to share their charging equipments not just in the USA, Canada and Europe but throughout the whole world. The next step is to assemble a small team for further development and to work with users about a mobile app in the near future.
Today, there are ten of thousands EV drivers primarily in developed countries around the world using public Charge EV Map service. They use ChargeEV.com to locate charge sharing EVpals where they can recharge. In return, they too, contribute to reduce range anxiety by listing their information to make it accessible to everyone else. Like fellow evpals, they may some day need an EV zap while driving far away from home where a public charging point is nowhere to be found.
The ChargeEV Sharing service will in no doubt win over EV Oems and charging network operators, EV dealers and fleet operators. As they and EV drivers become more involved with ChargeEV, the opportunity for growth will be strenghtened. Yves’ goal is to make it easier, faster and more convenient for EV drivers to charge EV by finding a charger or charging station at the click of a mouse or a voice command, at a crucual time and place of need. Moreover, Yves is seeking to also encourage the development of electric vehicles for better climate regulation, improved air quality and the overall well-being of people all over the planet.
